Description
Monkey is moody, grumpy, and groggy. He’s looking for some peace and quiet in all sorts of places, like watering holes, anthills, and up trees. Seems easy enough, doesn’t it? But this story wouldn’t exist if that were the case. Through the voice of Monkey comes a narrative that takes its readers through the jungle on Monkey’s search for the perfect place to put an end to his terrible mood. When Monkey finally finds his quiet place, he breaths in and out, counts to ten … and meditates! A great story introducing young children to meditation and self-care. The illustrations are bright, paper cut-out collages done by hand.
Author
Ashleigh Heyns is an author and illustrator. After trying many styles of art to create her illustrations, Ashleigh decided paper collage was the medium for her, which, although the messiest and most demanding of the styles is definitely the most fun! Ashleigh spent twenty years teaching kindergarten and says that it was through teaching that she learned the most. She lives in Marondera, a small town in Zimbabwe with her family, four cats and two dogs.
