Professor Chan-ho Kim introduces anthropology which gives understandings on the world by comparing different lives and culture of human beings. The first chapter explains academic backgrounds of cultural anthropology, which intends to understand differences and universalities of various cultures, followed by progress of human culture, including civilization created upon language and walking erect, and how it changed men’s influence on the nature. The second chapter introduces such renowned anthropologists as Lévi-Strauss and Ruth Benedict. The third and last chapter answers ten questions on cultural anthropology – e.g. why the study is needed for automobile design, and whether studying a primitive tribe in Amazon is part of cultural anthropology.
