Edmond Dantès, a young sailor unfairly imprisoned for 14 years, escapes with the help of another prisoner, Abbé Faria, who reveals to him before his death the location of a treasure hidden on the island of Monte Cristo. Once freed, Dantès recovers the treasure, renames himself Count of Monte Cristo and sets out to take revenge on all those who betrayed him in the past.

This dramatic adventure novel is full of gripping twists and turns, intriguing characters and deep, universal themes – revenge, love, betrayal, forgiveness, friendship, redemption... It is adapted here by the authors of BIG BLACK–STAND AT ATTICA, nominated for a 2021 Eisner Award, which honours best American comics.

Illustrator and graphic designer, with over two decades in comics, Ameziane has produced 22 books and an Artbook, and has been translated in 11 countries. Une histoire des zoos humains, then Nazi Killers, and has given a uniquely documented pictorial account of the life and work of Martin Scorsese, Tarantino and Coppola in his first Cine Trilogy. Jared Reinmuth is an actor, writer, teacher, director and songwriter. He played the role of Edmond Dantès on stage in New York. After twenty years working on Big Black–Stand at Attica, he turned his attention to The Count of Monte Cristo, on which he worked even longer. The raft of reviews that rewarded his efforts when he was on stage is proof of the passion he put into this adaptation. He lives in the United States.
