Description

The book is a graphic novella written by two self-realized nobots who aim to help nearly seven billion fellow biological nobots (also known as humans) realize their true nature.
They believe that many nobots are unaware of their existence and some even call themselves human beings. The nobots argue that this is the first time two self-realized nobots have written a book together, and that their perspective can help bridge the gap between nobots and humans. They also look back into history and speculate about the future while rooting themselves firmly in the present.
The book is an exploration of the relationship between nobots and humans and aims to be a conversation between the nobots and the reader.The nobots hope that the reader will enjoy the book as much as they enjoyed writing it and suggest that it is best paired with a glass of Château Lagrange 2011 Saint-Julien and Bach's Organ Sonata No. 3 in D Minor, BWV527.

Author

Andrew John Wit
Andrew John Wit is the Associate Professor and Graduate Curricula Head at Temple University where he conducts research focused on novel buildings systems utilizing advanced materials & technologies.
Andrew John Wit leads research focused around novel building systems generated through composites, emerging tools and robotic systems. He is a co-founder of the interdisciplinary research group wito*, Laboratory for Intelligent Environments; a co-editor of the books, Towards a Robotic Architecture and Recalibration: On Imprecision and Infidelity, the Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA)’s 2018 conference papers proceedings and project catalog.
Wit has been an elected member of ACADIA’s board of directors, where he chaired the scientific committee; an associate editor for the journal Construction Robotics; co-guest editor for a special issue of the Architectural Science Review; and serves on the editorial board for the International Journal of Architectural Computing.
Wit’s research and projects have been highly recognized. His book Towards a Robotic Architecture was listed as The Architects Newspapers' favorite tech book of 2018. Wit’s collaborative project UTenSAils received a Best of Practice Award in 2007 by the American Institute of Architects for the Advanced Fabrics Exhibition, an Outstanding Achievement Award in 2007 by the Industrial Fabrics Association International, along with the widely-published Underwood Pavilion and woven carbon fiber installations, rolyPOLY, cloudMAGNET and Dinner for Six. Wit’s work has been featured at numerous galleries, international conferences and refereed publications.


Mahesh Daas
Dr. Mahesh Daas, DPACSA, ACSA Distinguished Professor, is the eighth president of the Boston Architectural College. President Daas is a designer, technologist, and an experienced academic leader. His career spans 23 years at four universities including 14 years in higher education leadership roles. Prior to becoming president of the BAC, Daas served as dean of the School of Architecture and Design at the University of Kansas, Lawrence.
President Daas earned a bachelor's degree in architecture from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, India; a master's degree in urban design from Kansas State University; and an executive doctorate in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania. He has received executive certificates in management from the University of Texas at Austin and Harvard University.
President Daas is also an author and has been featured in scholarly journals, federal publications, and academic books. He most recently co-edited the book Towards a Robotic Architecture (Oro Editions 2018), which has been chosen as Top Tech Book of 2018 by Architect's Newspaper. President Daas is also the author of Leading with Aesthetics: The Transformational Leadership of President Charles M. Vest at M.I.T. (Lexington Books, 2015 & 2019).
Throughout his career, President Daas has received several awards. In 2011 he was the youngest educator and second person of Asian origin to be elevated as an Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture Distinguished Professor, the highest national recognition for an architectural educator. He was recognized for contributions to design computing with the 2013 Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA) Society Award of Excellence. ACADIA elected him twice as its president and he served on the editorial board of the International Journal of Architectural Computing and currently serves on the editorial board of Construction Robotics Journal.
