Description
This book links the Jeju Island women sea divers, registered as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity with UNECO, with the “tale of Irish divers” to come up with a novel story of sea divers. Lee Myungae, who illustrated the book, delineated the Jeju Island women sea divers in a realistic yet symbolic manner while painting resoundingly the constantly changing scenes of the sea around Jeju Island with a diverse palette. As a result, readers will get a sense of the strength and indomitable spirit of the aged women sea divers who have lived their whole life amid rough winds and waves.
Author
Lee Myungae was chosen as an Illustrator of the Year at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in 2015 and 2017. She won the Silver Prize at Nami Concours, the Golden Plaque and Golden Apple Award at the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava (BIB) in 2021
