★“There were gas chambers and crematoriums. Jews were exterminated in Europe. The Shoa happened. There is no question about this. What needs to be questioned are the people who deny it. For a world in which the existence of gas chambers is denied is a word that allows the politics of crime.”
Description
Holocaust denial, the minimisation of the extermination of the Jews, has been and continues to be a constant of a certain European culture and politics. But if for a long time, certain claims were relegated to the sidelines of the debate, this is no longer the case. Year by year, in fact, we have witnessed an ever more forceful escalation of voices that deny the Holocaust or somehow try to minimise it. The new media are amplifying this trend, and certain images and certain elements of style are no longer taboo, as they would have been until twenty years ago.
With her philosopher’s vision, Donatella Di Cesare makes a rigorous analysis of the growing galaxy of anti-Semitism, deconstructing its contents and denouncing its tangible devastating political danger. For each one of us.
