The year 2021 marked the 77th anniversary of the end of the siege of Leningrad,the second-largest city in Russia. As a symbol of the courage and persistence of the people. The voice of Leningrad was Olga Bergholz. The poet and journalist, she was famous for her work on the Leningrad radio during the 900-day siege.
Bergholz had kept journals throughout her life. In her journals, she described key literary figures, romantic affairs, relationships with the authorities, Russian revolutions, horror of the siege, famine, bombing, repressions, etc. Olga’s life was a profound expression of the century itself.
