Description

"Rhapsody in Blue" was written by American composer George Gershwin in 1924 for solo piano and jazz orchestras. It combines the principles of classical music and the elements of jazz. The piano and symphony orchestra version was adapted by American composer Ferde Grofé in 1946, and it has since become one of the most popular repertoires in American concerts.

The impromptu expression of the theme is organically combined with the development of symphony. The modal and harmonic factors of black blues music, the strong split rhythm and glide effect of jazz music all give this uniquely conceived work a distinctive color.
