Description

Emma is expecting a little brother and he will arrive at the same time as the cherries from the garden. Armed with this information, Emma watches her tree.

A few days later, Mum was out in the garden thinking about a few things.
In front of her on the table were some tiny baby clothes.
Emma got on a chair.
ʺI want to choose some clothes for my baby brother! He needs little red socks, red trousers and a red jumper, like the cherries.ʺ
Emma looked at the tree and said,
ʺOh, look, Mum ! The cherries are pink ! Can I try one ?ʺ
ʺThey aren’t ripe yet,ʺ said Mum. ʺWe have to wait a bit longer !ʺ
ʺI don’t want to wait any more !ʺ said Emma crossly. ʺI want one now !
If I have a cherry now, I’ll have my little brother now too !ʺ
