Description

Alberto Angela reconstructs the life and the skillful moves on the international chessboard, but also the loves and passions of the queen who in a certain way has conquered Rome. By tracing historical sources and consulting modern studies, he brings us to the chaotic streets of the capital of the ancient world, on the docks of the exotic port of Alexandria in Egypt and on the bloody battlefields, to discoverpeople, stories, customs and traditions.

With his inimitable style, Alberto Angela is able to make us relive the period that marked an epochal change in the Roman history. From the minute by minute account of the killing of Julius Caesar, decreeing the end of the Republic to the death of Antonio and Cleopatra (whose grave has not been found yet!) until the birth of the Empire with the power of Augustus.

This book is a journey through time, between the West and the East, to rediscover with a new look a charismatic and intelligent woman as well as a fascinating and convulsive historical period, full of contradictions, intrigues, passions and wars that have marked our present and contributed to give life to our modern world.
