Wang I-chia 's "Zen" Q&A:
Why can Zen make people "realize"? There are two reasons for this:
One in essence, Zen Buddhism believes that each of us originally has a pure and peaceful heart and self nature, but it is polluted by acquired experience, likes and dislikes, and form all kinds of minds and misconceptions, and thus produces greed, anger, delusion and all kinds of troubles. Zen aims "to be true, clear heart to see the nature" for the purpose, "realize" is to remove misconceptions, rest the mind, let the true heart and self-nature appear, and let us out of trouble from suffering, and feel happy at ease.
Another in terms of method, for those who come to seek advice, Zen masters like to use what is called the "horizontal thinking method" in the modern West, to show a sharp edge between the question and answer, so that your brain turns, the soul is bright, a few butterflies in your stomach, and then survive, suddenly enlightened, and "realize" the truth that has not been perceived before.

Many of the difficulties and pains of life are problems of ideas, and if you want to get out of trouble and suffering, you must break the rigid way of thinking, and look at the world and yourself again with lively and creative thinking. Zen, with its sharp, deafening and enlightening questions and answers, cleanses our minds and eyes, allowing us to see new directions and discover new opportunities in a sobering insights, which makes the boring, dreary and empty life full of vitality and richness.
