Description

The story centres on Fiona who is a young girl with a passion for surfing. When she is teased by the local boys on her beach she stands firm knowing her capabilities and her skills are as good as theirs. Fiona goes on to demonstrate her strength and bravery by rescuing a child in trouble in the rip currents and so earning a reputation for lifesaving. Fiona goes on to join the local surf club and finds that she has a real talent in surf competitions. Through this new pastime she discovers a love for helping others that eventually leads her to a career as a lifeguard.
The charm of this narrative is that it is based on the life of a real lifeguard. Still the only professional female lifeguard in her local area Fiona’s friendly, down to earth and steadfast attitude make for a thrilling read and an inspiring role models for young women everywhere.
