Description

Anton Pavlovich Raisky, a middle-aged, once popular writer, spits from his balcony at his neighbors out of idleness. One morning, after spitting again, he accidentally falls prisoner on the bald head of the famous critic Dobuzhansky. Frightened and unhappy, Anton Pavlovich finds solace in chess: placing pieces on the board, he calls the black pawn by the name of the spattered Dobuzhansky and gladly "eats" the dangerous critic.The next day, Dobuzhansky breaks his neck. In the evening Anton Pavlovich again turns to the chess game ...
Everything goes according to the will of the player, until he suddenly realizes that he himself has become a piece on this board.

One of the most talented women writers in contemporary Russian literature! A literary nova attracting the attention of millions of people!
Nikolayenko graduated from Stroganov Moscow State University of Arts and Industry, but she loved words as a child and began to create while still in high school. She entered the literature in 2016 and have 4 works published within 2 years: 2 collections of short stories and 2 novels. Both of the 2 novels have achieved great success! One has won the 2017 Russian Booker Prize and Russian “Nonconformism" Award! The other one, with high sales and critical acclaim, shortlisted for the Russian National Best Seller award and the Russian Big Book Award in 2019!
In addition to her identity as a writer, Nikolayenko is also a famous illustrator. Her black and white illustrations have a unique creative style with profound implications, and her illustrations have appeared in many excellent works.
