Description

A new book by Zakhar Prilepin is dedicated to the Russo-Ukrainian tragedy of 2014. Journalistic stories and travel articles written during the trips to Novorossia are connected to the idea of a “Russian world” (=oppose to the unipolar world), history and culture.
Addressing the historical events, the author has kept his journal “Not Our Troubles” since 2013 and since the time of Euromaidan protesters in Kiev. But “their troubles“ have evolved into “our troubles”. History repeats itself and nothing new under the sun.
According to the author, all the processes that are taking place in Ukraine, in Ukrainian society have already happened in history. The country is seeking happiness in the wrong place. Its independence and happiness could be secured only by close relationship and friendship with Russia.
