Author

Zakhar Prilepin:
  Zakhar Prilepin is a Russian TV presenter, journalist, and the author of over a dozen books and several collections of essays.
  Zakhar got a degree in philology but had to do unskilled physical job to support his large family. Zakhar did his service as a contracted leader with the Special Forces during the Chechnya conflict and in Dagestan. It greatly influenced Zakhar’s attitude to life and sorted out his priorities. Prilepin is known for having an opinion and is regarded as a man of the people. Prilepin’s independent views, social consciousness and lucid prose has made Zakhar one of the most popular and acclaimed writers in Russia.
  In 2004 Zachar debuted with his novel Pathology and the Russian literary scene liked the unique style of a promising author. The author’s books are published by Elena Shubina team (the eponymous literary fiction imprint in AST Publishing Group) and have been reprinted many times. The characters of his books are the ordinary people of a society, and a lot of the stories are based on true stories and can be regarded as autobiographical. Prilepin has a plethora of prestigious literary prizes and his books have been translated into many European languages.
