Review

"Rumini is impossible to put down either read by or read for children" ——Pesti Műsor, the greatest Hungarian cultural magazine

"I consider the Rumini series the most important, most creative, most refreshing and most exciting event of Hungarian children’s literature of the past decade. Let’s hope Judit Berg is about to continue it!" ——Life and Literature, Hungarian cultural weekly magazine

"I believe Judit Berg should be mentioned together with the greatest authors of children’s literature, such as Astrid Lindgren, as she has a wonderful talent of speaking the language of children." ——EszterKovács, editor of the biggest Hungarian website on children’s literature, editor and owner of Pagony, a major Hungarian publisher of children’s literature

"For a long time we have been lacking Hungarian authors with the ability to write enjoyable prose for young school children. Now Judit Berg has come…" ——Magic Pencil, Hungary

"Rumini is my favourite series, for it is very exciting and funny. The only problem is that it’s impossible to put down." —— Mark Piros (8 yrs) from Budapest

"Without Rumini the world of books would be much more boring.” ——Julia Rezessy (10 yrs) from Budapest

"If there is such a person as "irst Lady for contemporary children’s literature’ it is definitely Judit Berg. She has reached this rank with hard work, and has enough talent and elegance to fulfil the position." ——Andrea Lovasz, literary critic

"Rumini is one of the most magical, enthralling, exciting and friendly books I have had the pleasure of reading. After the first paragraph I was hooked and wanted to know what happened next. The stories are truly inspired and extremely satisfying. You soon forget the characters are mice and gerbils etc. They are brought to life so wonderfully by Berg Judit that you are instantly drawn into Rumini’s world and his fantastic adventures. This is storytelling of the highest order." ——Dean Wilkinson, writer of LittleBigPlanet, Stupid, SMTV Live & Chums.

Description

This time the Queen Of The Breeze is taking cargo to the Northernmost islands of Freezia. An ill-mannered old governor of Freezia is returning to his home as a passenger of the ship, but his behaviour soon becomes suspicious in Rumini’s eyes. After a sudden attack of black seagulls Rumini even finds evidence to prove that the governor is up to mischief.
Unfortunately, his conspiracy is revealed too late, after having him hijacked the Queen Of The Breeze. He has a perfect plan to occupy the thrown of Freezia and he ruthlessly uses the crew of the ship in order to achieve his goal. It turns out that he has conspired with the king of the neighbouring Ore Island, has powerful allies and feels no mercy at all. However, his plans get finally crossed by the bravery and wit of Rumini and his friends, treachery and treason are overcome by loyalty, courage and smartness and in the greatest deeds even a noble Freezian girl, a poor Freezian boy and the last Knights of the Order of Black Seagulls turn up to help.
During the adventures in frost and ice ships freeze into the Sea of Ice, snow weasels and black seagulls endanger the heroes, and even Rumini’s invisible hat loses its magic, but luckily enough, an ex-sailor of the Queen Of The Breeze returns to the ship. The forever joking, brave-hearted Jake Polaris used to work on board but had been fired three years before. After a coincidental meeting at Ore Island Captain Bonanza takes Jake back to the ship making all the crew extremely happy (except for the strict and bossy boson Tom Tar). However, the strength and brilliant ideas of Jake Polaris prove to be essential for survival, and the roll of breathtaking adventures make the book impossible to put down.
