Description
Less than a decade after the first flight of an engine airplane in 1906, the developments in the aircraft industry in the interwar period drove an incredible technological advance during World War II. The on radio communication, the invention of the radar, strategic long-distance super
bombers, and the insurgence of the first monoplane jet fighters turned observation aircrafts into fast, agile machines capable of carrying heavy armaments.
INTERESTING FACTS
• The Taube was a warplane produced in Germany in the run-up to the World War I. Its clear wings were barely noticeable in the air, thus granting it the nickname The Invisible Plane.
• The German FF.41AT aircraft of World War I carried no more than 700kg of bombs.
• World War II airplanes had the capacity to carry more than 4 ton of ammunition.
The book follows a historical timeline: there is an introductory text on each of the major conflicts, followed by an illustrated list of the aircrafts of a country organized chronologically as they entered combat.
