Description

What is geopolitics? How and why did such a method of approach impose itself? Who are the founders, what were their theories? What kind of indispensable analytical tools does it provide in our understanding of the permanencies and fractures of contemporary international relations?
Illustrated with numerous color maps and current cases, this simplified and educational introduction, (a constant success since its first edition, this being the 5th) , provides a synthetic approach to the history, tools and perspectives of the discipline of geopolitcs. Peace, war, balance, fractures, territorial dynamics: the objective throughout is to clarify "the stakes of power over territories", in all their diversity.
The examples in this updated edition include all the major recent upheavals in international relations: from the war in Ukraine to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, including climate and health issues, the return of power logics on all continents, and the systemic confrontation between the United States and China.
