Description

We’ve reached this point because, notwithstanding a growing awareness of the problem within the general public, all policies designed to ameliorate it have proven inadequate. This book by Edo Ronchi, longstanding Green activist and former Italian Minister for the Environment, is the ultimate guide to finally walk the talk. Greta Thunberg has been invoking a massive “Green New Deal” for the ecological conversion of the economy so we can stand united against the climate and social crises, both made even more critical by the Covid-19 pandemic. Funding of renewable energies, carbon tax, urban regeneration, circular economy, a reassessment of the manufacturing system, of transportation and the agricultural and food cycle - in a passionate and communicative style Ronchi introduces and analyses the full arsenal of weapons we can deploy to win the most important battle for the planet and humanity. His book is a call to arms for us all, to demand incisive policies and a truly new economy. Changing personal habits is not enough. Our entire social system needs to change, and the time has come to demand it.

In 2020 Edo Ronchi was the recipient of the Sustainability Award of the Foundation Hans-Carl von Carlowitz (Chemnitz, Germany), in the Category Europe, “for the authenticity and determination of his life-time work for environmental justice, a solution to climate change and the improvement of quality of life for people in Italy and the world”
