Description

How has geological research changed the way we see the world? A breathtaking and accessible essay that gives readers new appreciation for the planet’s sweeping landscapes and natural beauty.
Our planet was not created in a day, and neither was the science to understand it. As proof, search the pages of history to study
the tribulations of scientists like Nicolas Steno, James Hutton,
Jean-Baptiste Delambre, Marie Curie and many more.
Together, their spectacular discoveries revealed how the Earth was formed and then transformed over four and a half billion years. Ten extraordinary scientific adventures teach readers some of history’s greatest geology lessons as they travel the world—from Florence, Italy to the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, from the Siberian taiga and back to Montreal.
