Description

It is said that a long time ago, on the distant snowy plateau, there was a Cintamani Corpse, with the upper body made of jade, lower body of gold and head of shells. Anyone who carried it home could have the earth covered with gold. The corpse could help prolong one’s life and eliminate the sin of murder committed by Dekyaw Sampo so long as he remained silent on the way carrying the corpse back. But the cunning Cintamani Corpse is prone to tell one touching story after another, and no one could listen to such stories without saying gee whiz. So, again and again, the corpse flew back to the forest of corpses after telling wonderful stories. Over and over again, Dekyaw Sampo picked up the corpse and indulged in its fascinating stories...

Author

Pema Tseden (པད་མ་ཚེ་བརྟན) is a male Tibetan born in Guide County, Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province in December 1969. As a member of China Film Director’s Guild, China Film Associations and Chinese Film Literature Association, his film productions won many national and international awards. Since 1991, he has published literary works of more than 40 novelettes and short stories written in Tibetan and Chinese and more than 20 translations, which have been included in a variety of collections. His works have been introduced abroad with translations in multiple languages such as English, French, German, Japanese and Czech, which have won various literary awards.
