Based on children's experiences in daily life -- going to school, visiting the supermarket, walking in the countryside or having lunch with their families -- Samantha C. de Andrade and Viviane L. Vieira, nutritionists from the School of Public Health at the University of Sao Paulo, have shown through Professor Helena that Eating well means choosing healthy foods that have different functions for the body.
But when faced with candy, snacks, fast food and so on, how do kids make the best choice? Professor Helena stressed that healthy living is based on an understanding of where food comes from, the function it plays in our bodies, the importance of fruits and vegetables and the role of processed foods.
