Description

Did our ancestors help their fellow human beings in the face of survival difficulties? Why did natural selection favor behaviors that put them at risk as individuals? When did hominins begin to bury their dead? Is compassion only human? When and why did it start? Where he lives?
Compassion is one of the most characteristic behaviors of our species: a feeling of empathy that produces the pain or suffering of others and that prompts us to avoid and remedy it. Exploring when and why this trait emerged in our evolution is an exciting challenge.
Interest in human evolution is spreading, and it is increasingly present in studies to clarify the existence of extinct Homo species, and the relationship they had between them and with ours. New technologies make it easier for us to review old fossils, which provide data that remained hidden. The continuous discovery of deposits is filling important knowledge gaps. Can we review what are the origins of "the human", and specifically, can we know the origin of compassion?
Roberto Sáez proposes us to know the "prehistory of compassion": a journey through our evolutionary path to search for evidence about one of the behaviors that gives us the quality of human beings; a journey that will take us to a fascinating destination.
