Description

Today’s comfort (and waste) level of the share of the world’s population living in the rich areas of the West and of the developing countries is based on two assumptions that are nowadays obsolete: that low-cost energy is unlimited, and that the use of fossil fuels does not cause harm. This view has to be corrected, re-thinking the way our houses are designed and transforming correction systems and energy distribution networks. Dalla caverna alla casa ecologica is a fundamental book on the history of living, and on the relationship between “home” technologies and society. A story that ends showing a possible way towards homes that are not only more sustainable, but also more efficient, cheap and comfortable.

Author

Federico M. Butera works on research, scientific dissemination and design in the field of rational use of energy and renewable sources, on a building and metropolitan scale. He has cooperated with the European Commission, the International Energy Agency, various United Nation agencies and the World Bank.
